Biodynamic Massage
What is Biodynamic Massage?

Biodynamic Massage Therapy is a gentle, holistic form of bodywork that supports emotional and physical wellbeing through touch and awareness.
Rooted in the principles of Body Psychology, it recognises the deep connection between body, mind, and emotions. Rather than focusing solely on muscle tension or relaxation, Biodynamic Massage works with the body’s natural rhythms and energy flow to help restore balance from within.

Developed by Norwegian psychologist and physiotherapist Gerda Boyesen, this approach includes the use of a stethoscope to listen to the sounds of the digestive system during the massage.
These subtle “psycho-peristaltic” sounds—like gentle rumbling in the tummy—are understood as the body’s way of digesting emotional experiences, much as it digests food. The sounds provide real-time feedback, helping the therapist and client sense when emotions are being processed and released.
What can it help with?

Biodynamic Massage Therapy can support people experiencing:
-
Stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm
-
Fatigue, sleep difficulties, or burnout
-
Muscle tension or physical discomfort linked to emotions
-
Grief, low mood, or difficulty switching off
-
A need for grounding, calm, or reconnection with the body
By addressing both physical and emotional layers, it can foster deep relaxation, self-regulation, and a renewed sense of inner harmony. It can also complement psychotherapy or counselling, helping to integrate emotional insights through the body.

What to expect
Sessions take place on a massage table in a calm, safe environment.
We can work either directly on the skin or through light clothing, and we use no oils or powders.
Each session is tailored to your needs and may include a range of touch—from light, soothing strokes to deeper, more grounding techniques.
Your therapist may use a stethoscope to gently listen to the abdomen, tracking the body’s natural process of emotional digestion.

The focus is on supporting your body’s innate capacity for healing—helping you release tension, restore balance, and reconnect with yourself in a safe and nurturing way.
